How to download build 24.20 and add it to the launcher.

Before you start

  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
  • Plenty of free disk space. Build files are large, and you need room for the zip and the extracted copy.
  • An archive tool that handles big zips (7-Zip or WinRAR). Windows' built-in extractor is slow on large files.
  • Game services are offline until launch, so you can set everything up now but not play yet. See status.

1. Download the build

Get 24.20-CL-25156858.zip from the downloads page. It starts as a normal file download. Don't use mirrors or re-uploads, since we can't vouch for them.

Let it finish before moving on. If it stops partway, restart the download instead of using the partial file.

2. Extract it

  1. Make a folder somewhere short, like D:\Builds\24.20. Avoid OneDrive, Downloads and Program Files.
  2. Right-click the zip, choose your archive tool, and extract into that folder.
  3. Open the folder. You should see the game folders (such as FortniteGame and Engine) directly inside it, not inside another folder. If there is an extra folder layer, move its contents up one level.

3. Import it into the launcher

  1. Open the Rewind launcher.
  2. Go to the library and choose the option to add or import a build.
  3. Select the folder from step 2, the one that directly contains the game folders.
  4. Wait while the launcher checks the files. The build should then show as 24.20 in your library.

The launcher isn't public yet, so button names may differ slightly when it comes out. We'll update this page then.

Problems

The launcher says the build is invalid

Usually the wrong folder is selected. Pick the folder that directly holds the game folders, not its parent. If that doesn't work, re-extract the zip.

Extraction fails or files are missing

The download is probably incomplete or corrupted. Download it again and extract with 7-Zip.

Antivirus removed files

Some antivirus tools flag modified game files. Check what was quarantined, and add the build folder as an exception if you trust it.

I imported it but can't play

Servers aren't online until release. Check status.
